Care Closet

Background

The mission of the Care Closet, one of the Jubilee Ministries of Christ Church, is to serve needy families and individuals by providing sundries in the form of household cleaning supplies and personal hygiene essentials on a regular basis.

These items, which cannot be purchased with Food Stamps, often make up a large part of a struggling household’s meager budget. By providing these essential supplies, we strive to allow families and individuals facing personal hardship to maintain their dignity.

The Details

The Care Closet alternates each month between providing personal care items and household products.

The personal care items we distribute are:

  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrush
  • Bar Soap
  • Deodorant Stick
  • Shampoo
  • Shaving Cream
  • Razors
  • Facial Tissues
  • Paper Towels
  • Bathroom Tissue

The household items we distribute are:

  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Sponges/Scrubber Sponges
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Cleanser
  • Napkins (120 count)
  • All-purpose liquid cleaner
  • Facial Tissues
  • Paper Towels
  • Bathroom Tissue

How Can I Help?

We are always accepting donations of all of the items listed above.

Items need to be individually packaged, i.e. single rolls of paper towel, vs. packages of three.

In addition, you can join the “Bag-A-Month Club” to help support this important outreach without going to shop for these items yourself. This allows us to shop for the items of which we have fewer donations.

The cost is $10 per month, which is the approximate cost of filling each bag. Your gift can enable a family to maintain a clean living space and healthy hygiene.

To join, simply send your first month’s check, payable to Christ Episcopal Church to:

Please write "Care Closet" in the memo.

The Care Closet cannot exist without volunteers, who help with shopping, inventory, bagging and distribution on
the last Monday of the month. If you are interested, please contact us at 973-751-0616. We have “Sit-down jobs” for people who cannot stand for long periods
